Welcome!
Please join us at House of Prayer Lutheran Church. As the only congregation in Escondido affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we are excited to witness to our community and beyond. We are a multi-cultural congregation with ministries touching almost every area of life.
Our Sunday service is at 10:00 a.m. with Holy Communion offered at each service. I lead a Wednesday morning Bible study at 10 a.m., which visitors often attend. It is a good way to get acquainted and have the opportunity to explore God's Word together.
If you are interested in community service, we regularly serve meals and help to collect food for our local social services agency, Interfaith Community Services. We also partner regularly with other nonprofits in order to serve folks in our neighborhood. If you have ideas for other kinds of ministries or just need to talk, feel free to connect with me. I'd love to hear your story and how God is working in your life. God bless you!
In Christ,
Pastor Christina

About Pastor Christina
Pastor Christina De La Cruz came to House of Prayer Lutheran Church in October, 2021. She was born and raised in Uniontown, near Akron, Ohio. Before seminary, she studied Psychology at the University of Akron. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree, she had what she likes to call her “midway-to-midlife crisis.” Instead of pursuing a job in her field, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida and joined a L’Arche community, where she lived as a caregiver alongside folks with and without disabilities. After a year, she moved to the Dominican Republic, where she taught English and facilitated youth programs among marginalized communities. She was in the D.R. for two years. When she returned to the States, she spent some time with a migrant community in Immokalee, Florida.
She attended the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago for seminary and received her Master’s degree in Divinity. Before coming to House of Prayer, she trained in a bilingual congregation in West Chicago and later in a Spanish congregation in Santiago, Chile. All of these experiences have given her a passion for building authentic, diverse, and affirming communities that live out the Gospel.
