Sound & Camera Technician

The position shall be part-time—three (3) to six (6) hours per week. The hours will be 9:00am - 12:00pm on Sundays, and may include additional set up time for performances and coordinating of special services such as (but not limited to) funerals, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, and Christmas Eve.
The position will include up to 4 Sundays of paid vacation days per year, which must be preapproved and mutually agreed upon with the direct supervisor (pastor).
The purpose and scope of this church position:
The purpose of the Sound & Camera Technician is to enhance the sound quality for in-person worship attendees and to provide virtual services for home viewing. This will be achieved by managing the sound system and the camera for streaming during the services, and by coordinating a small group of tech team volunteers.
While not a total list of duties, the following is a list of the major duties and responsibilities for the Sound & Camera Technician and appear in no order of priority:

While not a total list of duties, the following is a list of the major duties and responsibilities for the Sound & Camera Technician and appear in no order of priority:
- Operate the sound board during Sunday Services, occasional funerals, and special services;
- Conduct sound checks on equipment and coordinate set up of sound equipment;
- Train volunteers to effectively use the microphones and necessary equipment (ex: how to best hold the microphone, etc.);
- Make necessary adjustments to sound levels in real-time during services;
- Ensure that the equipment is ready and that microphones have batteries with adequate power;
- Make decisions about which equipment may be needed for applicable projects (ex: microphone needs for special musical performances);
- Help to coordinate equipment repairs when necessary;
- Operate PTZ camera during services via OBS, and stream services to YouTube;
- Teach volunteers to assist with the camera work during services;
- Evaluate whether OBS and other equipment needs to be updated or if settings need to be adjusted;
- Ensure that the video is streamed properly and saved to our church website (using YouTube and Weebly).
Qualifications
- Able to troubleshoot audio and video equipment as needed for the best possible atmosphere for Sunday and other services through sound reinforcement
- Ability to stream and upload videos to all identified social media platforms
- Able to run presentation equipment and software when needed
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Able to work as a team member and take directions
- Good communication skills
- Have knowledge of the following sound related factors (such as but not limited to): Operating the necessary equipment related to the sound system; EQs; Frequencies for sound; Acoustics, etc.
- Have adequate knowledge on streaming related factors for YouTube (such as but not limited to): OBS operation; video and audio bit rates; appropriate frame rates; appropriate video codecs; CPU usage; Appropriate output resolution; Appropriate video and audio encoders.
