About House of Prayer
As the only congregation in Escondido affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we are excited to witness to our community and beyond. We are a multi-cultural congregation with ministries touching almost every area of life.

Our Sunday service is at 10:00 a.m. with Holy Communion offered at each service. On Tuesday mornings, we host a short morning prayer service at 9:30am, followed by Bible study at 10 a.m., which visitors often attend. It is a good way to get acquainted and have the opportunity to explore God's Word together.

House of Prayer is welcoming. Folks of every background and identity are welcome and affirmed in our worship space. We regularly host bilingual services and multicultural events, which are well loved and well attended. Examples include our annual Fiesta on the lawn, Posadas, Dia de Los Reyes, and The Day of the Child. Our Spanish Coro and English Choir work together well to bring music to our worship services. House of Prayer also hosts regular fellowship activities, such as a Senior get together on the third Thursday of the month, a few potlucks each year and Monthly evening Bible Studies. Our Visitation team also work hard alongside Pastor Christina in order to ensure that sick members and shut-ins remain connected to the church. There are many ways for members to get to know one another and build authentic friendships.

House of Prayer is community focused. We are proud to be a founding congregation of our local social services agency, Interfaith Community Services. This organization does incredible work in Escondido and North County, assisting folks who are in need. We regularly attend membership meetings, donate resources, prepare sack lunches, and volunteer. We are also connected with Rose Elementary School and have collaborated with them to support the students with school hoodies, school supplies, and a celebration for mothers. Throughout the year, we volunteer and partner with local organizations for various events. Examples include: hosting an annual tree planting event in collaboration with the City of Escondido, partnering with other faith communities to host National Day of Prayer and Interfaith Thanksgiving services, hosting presentations from local non-profits, and hosting a Resource fair on our campus. We also host 11 non-profits as tenants on our property, including 12-step programs, Palomar College, Educacion Popular (citizenship classes), and Education Compact (youth mentoring). We are proud to be a resource in our neighborhood.

House of Prayer is rooted in the Gospel. We gather together each week to worship God. Through Word and Sacrament, we are reassured of God's grace, and we are empowered to live out the Gospel in our own lives. We believe that we are called to love others as we have first been loved by God, and we believe that our faith is meant to impact our daily lives beyond the doors of the church.
